I’m a natural fertility specialist, fertility awareness expert and fertility coach. And I’d love to help you get pregnant.
My passion for all things fertility began with my love of science. I started out with a university degree in the fields of microbiology and molecular genetics, and began my career in a scientific research laboratory. But I soon discovered that I didn’t want to spend my days staring down a microscope. It wasn’t until my own quest to get pregnant however, that I discovered my true passion – the science of human fertility.
I’m not one to approach a new venture half heartedly. And it was no different when it came to getting pregnant. I wanted to optimise my chances from the outset, and I read everything I possibly could on how to enhance my fertility naturally. The more I learned from the in-depth research I did, the more fascinated I became with how we can influence our natural fertility. And how we can use the signs our bodies give us to greatly improve our chances of conception. What I learned was invaluable in helping me get pregnant and I wanted to share it with others.
So in 1999 I trained and became accredited as a natural fertility educator. I started working with couples in my clinic practice and providing fertility education to doctors and other health professionals. But through this work, I discovered a sad reality – that there wasn’t (and still isn’t) much help for trying to conceive couples between their initial doctor’s visit and being sent off to a fertility clinic for high tech treatment.
And so the Fertility Focus service began – to fill this gap and provide quality support and assistance to couples like you, who are trying to conceive naturally.
Firstly, I need to let you know that I don’t believe in ‘hocus pocus’ therapies. It’s very important to me that everything I teach and recommend is based on the latest scientific research and evidence. It upsets me when I see couples being conned into spending money on fertility products and therapies that aren’t backed by quality science, and that simply just don’t work.
I can’t promise you a pregnancy, but I can promise you an honest approach to help you optimise your chances. If you’re looking for a quick fix or a magic pill, I’m not the person for you.
I believe that you should be given every chance to get pregnant naturally if that’s what you choose. Too often I see couples pushed down the route of IVF or other fertility treatments well before they’re ready – and before all the alternative options have been offered to them.
Getting pregnant naturally is often just a matter of optimising your natural fertility – by using intercourse timing, lifestyle and dietary changes and certain supplements (if necessary). Other times, it means getting to the root cause of a medical issue and treating it in order to become pregnant naturally.
You deserve to be informed of ALL your options, so that you can move your journey forward from a place of knowledge and empowerment. I’m here to help you with exactly that.
Finally, I strongly believe that fertility awareness should be a fundamental step in any couple’s conception plan. Why? Because in my opinion, it’s hands down the most valuable tool for speeding up the time it takes to get pregnant.
Fertility awareness gives you an intimate understanding of your own unique fertility, and significantly boosts your pregnancy chances through the correct timing of intercourse. But perhaps even more importantly, it helps uncover potential problems that are commonly missed by standard fertility testing. And this can help you fast track any investigation or treatment you need.
I have a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Molecular Genetics and Microbiology from Massey University in Palmerston North, New Zealand.
I have also been trained and accredited as a Natural Fertility Educator, with Natural Fertility New Zealand
In addition to my formal training, I’ve spent the last 20 years reading everything I can about women’s and men’s fertility – both from a natural and medical perspective. I keep up to date with the latest scientific research and discoveries in the field of natural fertility, and incorporate this knowledge into my online program, fertility guides and individual fertility consultation
